Getting Uncomfortable Learning to Cut

Getting Uncomfortable Learning to Cut

It’s good [for me] to remember you have to get uncomfortable to improve.

Learning the sport of cutting has been humbling, frustrating and has pushed me way out of my comfort zone.

As someone who constantly battles with imposter syndrome, I love the immediate confidence boost you get from something coming natural. But if I’m being honest with myself, horseback riding has never come naturally to me, it’s always something I’ve had to work at (which makes it that much more rewarding, right?)

With this mindset, I’m ready to get to work.
I have a great new partner, the best instruction and trainers and an amazing support system at home and within my own barn. I truly have never had this much fun riding.

This is an electrifying time to be in this sport. There’s a ton of exciting updates ( National Cutting Horse Association) and opportunities right here in my own backyard and my goals — and the path to achieve them — have never felt clearer.

Here’s to celebrating the discomfort, the vulnerability and the challenge today, because we’ll be better riders tomorrow.
